Quentin Tarantino’s “Star Trek” movie will be R-rated, because he’s taking Kirk where he’s never gone before

You’ve probably heard the rumors, but apparently…they’re not just rumors. Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek movie is becoming more and more of a reality, and it’s going to be R-Rated. Because, hello, Quentin Tarantino.

We’re happy Star Trek is getting so much attention lately, between the J.J. Abrams movies and Discovery, and now this! We’ll take any opportunity to see our old faves reimagined on a big screen with a big budget. But, we have questions: Like, what will this R-rated Star Trek look like?!

We’ll have to wait a while for that, but we do have some exciting details!

About that R rating and (Star Trek) beyond!

As Deadline reports, “The film will most certainly go where no Star Trek has gone before: Tarantino has required it to be R-rated, and Paramount and Abrams agreed to that condition.”

Hear that? A requirement? We’re so curious to see what he does with the rating, since it was apparently so important. Like, will Kirk be swearing up a storm, or what?!

Tarantino is currently thinking about a writer for the project, and options include Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), Lindsey Beer (a whole bunch of stuff that isn’t out yet), and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) as of nowSeems like a pretty solid group to us!

We’re eager to learn more about this early-stages project and to see what new places Tarantino envisions the crew boldly going because if it’s R-rated, the possibilities are endless — so we’re definitely going to stay tuned!
