The Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace Has a Leonardo Da Vinci-Themed Escape Room Right Now
It seems as if the curators of "Leonardo Da Vinci: A Life in Drawing" took a page from The Da Vinci Code when making their exhibition.
The show is currently on view in the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace, and for the most part, it looks like your standard art exhibition. But for a brief window of time on Fridays and Saturdays, it turns into something else entirely, called "Leonardo Artmergency!"
It's an art history-themed escape room-for people who wanted to try an escape room, but thought there wasn't enough Renaissance art-centric gameplay. Teams of four to eight players can take on the challenge as a team, apparently in search of a missing curator. Read the palace's description in full below.
Think like a Renaissance genius to unlock the mysteries in Leonardo’s drawings. Your team will need careful observation, creative thinking and detective work to beat the clock, but no prior art history knowledge is required. The Queen’s Gallery will be transformed into four rooms of thematic puzzles and riddles as you solve the mystery of the missing curator.
Fans can live out their wildest royal museum fantasies through mid-October, when the Da Vinci exhibition closes. But fear not! This is not the only hyper-specific escape room in England.
"Leonardo Artmergency!" was created in collaboration with History Mystery, a company that specializes in this niche. They currently have four other escape rooms open, including "Secrets of the Tunnels" at Castle Meadow and "The Queenmaker" at Blickling Church. Go forth, and good luck.
