Queen Rania Told Her Daughter-in-Law Rajwa "Not to Read the Comments" After Her Engagement

Queen Rania of Jordan has shared some wise advice she gave to her new daughter-in-law, Princess Rajwa Al Hussein. In New York on September 20, Queen Rania spoke on the Today Show about the negative impacts of social media pretty candidly.

"I don't think you can fight the trend because that's where children are," the Queen said. "That's where the world is. Technology's all around us. You can't fight us completely, but you need to regulate it."

"I think it's more about the values that you instill in your kids about themselves," the mom of four added. "Self-confidence, the discipline, all those things are important and that will determine how they interact with their technology."

As for the words of wisdom that Queen Rania gave the princess:

"One of the first things, just before my son announced his engagement, I took Rajwa to the side and the first thing I told her was there's no such thing as 100 percent approval rating. You're always going to have people that are against you, and the advice that I want to try to give you is, 'Please try not to read the comments.'"

"You know, you're just going to have self-doubt, and there's always going to be negativity — and it's not about you, it's from the person," she continued. "They're unhappy in their own lives. So don't carry that unhappiness. It'll shake your confidence."

Queen Rania's son Prince Hussein married Rajwa on June 1, 2023 at Zahran Palace in Jordan. Rajwa, who was born in Saudi Arabia, worked as an architect at the Designlab Experience in Riyadh. As of now, there's no info as to exactly how she and Prince Hussein met, but the couple got engaged in August 2022.
