Prince Louis' christening will take place in the Chapel Royal of St. James' Palace in London later today, and several members of the royal family will be in attendance.

The Royal Family's official website has revealed that among the guests at Prince Louis' special day will be his grandparents, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Prince Louis' recently announced godparents and their spouses, Kate Middleton's parents, Pippa Middleton and James Matthews, and Kate's brother, James Middleton. Notably missing from the list of attendees are Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

The Express reports that, unfortunately, the Queen and Prince Philip took the decision to not attend their great-grandson's christening in London today. According to the publication, "The decision has not been made on health grounds and it is understood to have been mutually agreed by the Queen and the Cambridges some time ago."

The Queen has a very busy week of royal engagements ahead, including the Royal Air Force's 100th Anniversary Fly-Over, as well as Donald Trump's visit to the United Kingdom, during which he will meet with Queen Elizabeth.

It's also worth nothing that Prince Louis' christening date is already an important anniversary for the Queen. As The Mirror reported, on July 9 back in 1947, Queen Elizabeth's engagement to Prince Philip was announced to the world. While they had secretly been engaged for a year already, it wasn't until this very date that the then Princess Elizabeth shared her gorgeous engagement portrait with the world.

Both the Queen and Prince Philip will be missed from the special occasion.
