Everybody loves a glittering tiara, and while we're all fans of a classic diamond stunner, there's something refreshing about a spring-y touch of color, like in the piece Queen Maxima of the Netherlands brought out at an event this week.

For a state dinner in Slovakia on Tuesday night alongside her husband, King Willem-Alexander, the royal opted to top off her peacock blue lace gown, paired with a silver Lady Dior Croisiere Perforated Clutch and a pair of Aquazzura metallic platform heels, with a gleaming green tiara. Part of the Dutch Emerald Parure, the tiara is matched with a set of earrings from the same suite that Maxima wore for the occasion. She also wore an emerald choker, though it does not appear to have been the necklace that is part of the parure, which also includes a brooch and a cabochon pendant. According to The Court Jeweler, the set was made by Schürmann in 1899 at the behest of Queen Emma using some of the royal family's emeralds—it also has multiple settings, including one featuring pearls, and another set entirely with diamonds.

Her stunning look last night is a riff on a very similar style the queen wore to a state banquet in Ireland in 2019. On that occasion, she wore what appears to be a green-toned version of the same gown by designer Jan Taminiau to pair with the suite of gems for a dinner with Irish President Michael Higgins and his wife Sabrina Higgins.
