While we can all agree what day to actually celebrate Christmas, we seem to cross wires on setting a cutoff date for taking decorations down. Some families trash their evergreen the morning after the holiday, while others honor tradition and wait until either the Eve of Epiphany. When it comes to the Queen, she has her own timeline of when to strip down the cheery decor, and it might be a little bit later than you would expect.

The queen is said to keep her decorations up until February 6, according to Hello!. While we're stocking up on heart-shaped goodies like this doughnut bouquet, or maybe even putting up a Valentine's Day tree, the Queen is still surrounded by red and green. She picked this particular date because it is the anniversary of her father King George VI's death. Each year, instead of celebrating the holidays at Buckingham Palace, she treks off to the Sandringham Estate, where her father passed in 1952, and spends time there to pay her respects.

While some claim it's bad luck to keep decorations up after January 6, the Queen remains unscathed by these superstitions. After all, she is the Queen—who is going to tell her she's wrong? However, after the decor has been put away, she'll finally return to Buckingham Palace to reprise her duties. But given Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's surprise annoucement this week, we really hope she makes the most of her extended stay. There is sure to be a lot of hubbub circulating at the palace.
