Queen Elizabeth's Beloved Corgis Spotted at Windsor Castle on Day of Her Funeral
Loyal till the very end.
In addition to the royal family and signatures from around the world, there were two very special attendees on the funeral guest list: Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved corgis.
The dogs were spotted outside of Windsor Castle ahead of the Committal Service for the monarch’s funeral.
A photo released shows two members of the royal staff holding Her Majesty’s four-legged companions, Muick and Sandy, as they awaited the arrival of their owner’s casket.
The Queen’s affection for her dogs, specifically corgis, was widely known. Throughout her 70-year-reign, she owned dozens of them.
Per Today, she was first gifted a corgi by her father, however, many of her pets were actually dorgis, a mix of Dachshunds and corgis.
Prince Andrew, the queen’s third child, confirmed that the two corgis would move to his home in Windsor. The outlet also reported he was seen near the handlers during the funeral.
On Saturday, Prince William also told mourners that the two famous and loyal dogs would be in good hands.
"I saw them the other day, that got me quite sad," he said per video captured by Sky News. "They are going to be looked after fine."
"They are two very friendly corgis, so they've got a good home," he continued, adding "They'll be looked after very well. Spoiled rotten, I'm sure."
