Queen Elizabeth Is Using FaceTime and Skype During the Coronavirus Pandemic

  • Queen Elizabeth has reportedly been learning how to use FaceTime and Skype so that she can keep in touch with family members during the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Per The Telegraph, the queen is also set to address the nation in a special broadcast.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the general public has been advised to practice social distancing and to self-isolate wherever possible. And it seems that the royal family has already taken note of the crucial advice.

In fact, Queen Elizabeth has traveled to Windsor with her husband, Prince Philip. She noted in a statement that the couple would be changing their regular schedules in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus. And according to The Telegraph, the queen is set to record a special message to help support people across the United Kingdom.

The Telegraph reported on Sunday, "The Queen is to speak to the nation as the coronavirus crisis worsens. It will be only the fourth special address of her 68-year reign." The publication also noted that the monarch has been brushing up on technology and learning to communicate with friends and family members via Skype and FaceTime.

Earlier this week, Queen Elizabeth released a statement regarding the COVID-19 outbreak. She discussed the importance of self-isolation and wrote, "We are all being advised to change our normal routines and regular patterns of life for the greater good of the communities we live in and, in particular, to protect the most vulnerable within them."

Plus, she even hinted at her future Skype and FaceTime usage when she wrote, "Many of us will need to find new ways of staying in touch with each other and making sure that loved ones are safe. I am certain we are up to that challenge."
