  • Queen Elizabeth is officially on Instagram.

  • Her first post will surely have the influencer community shook to their very core.

Even though Queen Elizabeth is out here mingling with the public, shaking hands, and knighting people, she's never one to directly reach out to anyone through social media. It's probably against her own personal royal protocol standards or something, but she just said what the hey to being an international queen of mystery and posted her first ever Instagram. @ Influencer community, watch and learn.

On Thursday morning, the Queen interrupted the official Royal Family Instagram account to chime in with a very important diary entry. She shared a photo of an old letter written in cursive that was addressed to her great-great-grandfather Prince Albert. In the caption, she explained why this letter was so important that it deserved the honor of being her first post. She wrote:

"Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert. Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the “Difference Engine”, of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843. In the letter, Babbage told Queen Victoria and Prince Albert about his invention the “Analytical Engine” upon which the first computer programmes were created by Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron.
Today, I had the pleasure of learning about children’s computer coding initiatives and it seems fitting to me that I publish this Instagram post, at the Science Museum which has long championed technology, innovation and inspired the next generation of inventors."

And the way we know it's from le Queen is because she simply signed it "Elizabeth R." IMO, it was a missed opportunity to trademark herself as xoxo Queen Lizzy, but whatevs. We bow down regardless.
