Queen Elizabeth II's funeral seating plan explained

Today Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, was honoured at a state funeral held at Westminster Abbey, where 2,000 people gathered to pay their respects to Britain's longest-reigning monarch. Guests at the funeral included world leaders, foreign royals, celebrities and of course members of the Royal Family, who were all pictured sitting in the first two rows at the moving service.

King Charles III and the Queen Consort Camilla sat in the Canada Club chairs, closest to the Queen's coffin. Sat next to Camilla was the Princess Royal, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex.

The Prince of Wales, Prince George, the Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte were sat across the aisle from them. Prince Louis, thought to be too young to attend, was absent from the service. Sat next to them was Princess Anne's son Peter Philips, Princess Anne's daughter Zara Tindall and Zara's husband Mike Tindall.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, sat directly behind King Charles and Camilla, while Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi sat beside the Sussexes. Lady Louise Windsor and brother James, Viscount Severn were sat next to Beatrice, and they were followed by Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank and Sarah Ferguson.

Other members of the Royal Family at the funeral included Queen Elizabeth II's cousins: the Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra and Prince Richard (the Duke of Gloucester). The Queen Consort's son, Tom Parker Bowles, was also at the Abbey, as were Kate's parents Carole and Michael Middleton.

As well as UK prime minister Lizz Truss, Labour party leader Sir Keir Starmer, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon, and the Irish premier, Michael Martin were also in attendance.

US President Joe Biden, New Zealand's prime minister Jacinda Ardern, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro also paid their respects at the historic service.

The Queen's final resting place on Monday evening will be St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, where she will be buried alongside her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, who died last year at the age of 96.
