How Queen Elizabeth Feels About the Way Meghan Markle Handled Her Public Family Drama
The Mirror got a little insight today into how Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles feel about how Meghan Markle carried herself through her family's public drama last year (back when her father Thomas Markle and her half-siblings gave constant interviews about Meghan without her authorization; her half-siblings in particular regularly attacked her character). Meghan never responded to them and maintained a public-and allegedly private-silence.
That pleased the Queen, a source told the outlet. “The Queen is very fond of Meghan, as is Charles, and they both believe she has dealt with the situation in a dignified manner. The whole family is sympathetic on how much she has had to deal with.”
A senior royal source told The Mirror that Meghan has not spoken to her father or his side of the family. “Meghan’s overriding view is that there is no place for her father or his extended family in her life right now," the source said. "She has a strong family unit around her in Harry, with their adorable newborn son." The Duchess of Sussex "only wants positive influences for Archie."
Us Weekly ran a report last week about how Meghan has dealt with another source of relentless criticism: the British tabloids. Meghan has chosen to not let them break her as she continues her royal role.
"It’s hard for Meghan in London because the press is so vicious to her there," a source told the outlet. "This is her life. But her mentality is like, ‘Well, if this is what it’s going to be like, I’m going to do what I want to do. I won’t play by these rules.'"
The outlet was told that Meghan is "figuring out what she can do in terms of being active [and more] comfortable with her role." Her husband Prince Harry "supports her but recommends that she move with ease," its source said.
