Queen Elizabeth Confirmed That She Is Heading to Windsor Castle During the Coronavirus Pandemic

Queen Elizabeth has made her first statement regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that is spreading around the U.K. and the rest of the world.

On March 19, she and husband Prince Phillip headed from Buckingham Palace to Windsor castle for an undisclosed amount of time.

"As Philip and I arrive at Windsor today, we know that many individuals and families across the United Kingdom and around the world, are entering a period of great concern and uncertainty," she said. "We are all being advised to change our normal routines and regular patterns of life for the greater good of the communities we live in and, in particular, to protect the most vulnerable within them."

The queen goes on to thank scientists, medical practitioners and public service workers for their efforts during this time. She ends the statement writing, "You can be assured that my family and I stand ready to play our part."

Earlier this week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton made similar statements of support for those impacted by the virus. Princess Beatrice also reportedly canceled her wedding because of the pandemic and plans to have a private ceremony.

There is no word on the future of upcoming royal events such as the Trooping the Colour.
