Queen Elizabeth Allows Boris Johnson to Exercise at Buckingham Palace
In the early days of the coronavirus pandemic in the UK, Queen Elizabeth left Buckingham Palace to social distance at Windsor Castle. Now, 10 weeks later, she's still in Windsor, with no plans to return to London anytime soon.
Annual summer events at Buckingham Palace, like the public opening of the state rooms and the series of garden parties thrown in honor of those making a difference in their communities, have been canceled as the outbreak continues, but the Palace grounds aren't going entirely unused.
This week, People confirmed that the Queen has allowed British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to exercise "around the landscaped gardens of Buckingham Palace," as he continues to recover from COVID-19.
Back in March, Johnson announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
After experiencing persistent symptoms, the Prime Minister was admitted to the hospital for additional testing, where he was eventually moved to the intensive care unit as his symptoms "worsened."
He spent three days in intensive care before returning to a separate ward, and finally leaving the hospital on April 12.
"It is hard to find the words to express my debt to the NHS for saving my life," he said in a video on Twitter. "It is thanks to that courage, that devotion, that duty, and that love that our NHS has been unbeatable."

The efforts of millions of people across this country to stay home are worth it. Together we will overcome this challenge, as we have overcome so many challenges in the past. #StayHomeSaveLives pic.twitter.com/HK7Ch8BMB5— Boris Johnson #StayAlert (@BorisJohnson) April 12, 2020
Even while the Queen is away, her staff is taking care of her gardens, and late last month, Mark Lane, the head gardener at Buckingham Palace, shared a peek inside the space where Johnson is likely staying fit.
