Will Queen Camilla's Children Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes Receive Royal Titles?

After King Charles ascended to the throne in September, his wife, Camilla, immediately became Queen Consort. Now, as they are crowned King and Queen, many are wondering if Camilla becoming Queen Camilla means anything for her two children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes.

The short answer: No, Camilla's children will not automatically receive any royal titles.

Camilla's royal titles are due to her marriage to Charles, and they will not pass on to her children or grandchildren. Her children are not in the line of succession to the throne, either. Royal titles are only passed down through the bloodline. The only way Tom and Laura could have titles would be if they are bestowed upon them.

On the subject of whether or not Tom and Laura will get royal titles, Professor Judith Rowbotham told the Edinburgh News, "I can’t see this changing even though their mother is now Queen Consort. If they had really wanted to and pushed for it, they might have persuaded the now King Charles to lobby for a title. But that’s the last thing they wanted, either of them."

At the coronation ceremony today, Queen Camilla's family will take a prominent role. Three of her grandsons—Tom's son Freddy Parker Bowles, and Laura's twin sons Gus and Louis Lopes—will serve as pages of honor, and her sister, Annabel Elliot, will serve as one of her ladies in attendance.

"I think anyone would be anxious on an occasion of this sort of importance in terms of the historical," Tom recently said on a podcast appearance of his mother at the coronation. "And yes, I think I'd be terrified if I had to sort of walk out wearing ancient robes... She's 75, but you know, it's tough to do it. But she's never complained. You just do it. Get on with it."
