About the shoes

The Queen’s shoes, enveloped in a solid all-black color, featured suede material and a pointed-toe silhouette. Boots similar to the ones she’s wearing are available from brands like Loeffler. Their Indy suede knee-high boots are priced at a little over $520.

History of suede knee-high boots

Suede knee-high boots were originally created as a riding boot for men circa the 15th century. Towards the latter part of the 20th century, the style was later repurposed as a fashion boot for women. While suede knee-high boots can still be worn as traditional work boots, their primary purpose is to be fashioned for stylistic reasons. Knee-high boots were considered to be at the peak of their popularity in the 1960s and 1970s, experiencing a resurgence in the early 1990s after Chanel’s 1990 Couture collection. These boots are highly regarded for their coverage and insulation properties, making them a go-to footwear choice for colder weather. Many brands, such as Steve Madden, Blondo, and Madewell, now offer their own individual take on the style. Gianvito Rossi, Dries Van Noten, Chanel, and Jil Sander are among the many designer brands that carry the silhouette in slightly thicker versions.
