While her husband, King Charles, has been undergoing medical treatment for his cancer diagnosis, which was revealed by Buckingham Palace back in February, Queen Camilla has made a handful of solo appearances as one of the few working royals. But according to her work schedule (recently obtained by The Times), the queen, 76, will take a short break from her royal duties. So, what’s the reason behind the hiatus?

According to the outlet, Queen Camilla won’t take part in any royal engagements from now until March 11, when she is scheduled to attend a Commonwealth Day event at Westminster Abbey in London. FYI, the queen will also represent the crown at the annual celebration.

During the queen’s absence, the official royal diary states that King Charles’s siblings,  Princess Anne and Prince Edward, will represent the British monarchy at upcoming engagements, including a visit to the Freewheelers Theatre and an appearence at the annual Evensong and Reception.

Though the reason behind the queen’s break has not been revealed, many fans speculate that the royal is taking a step back from engagements because she wants to spend more time with her husband as he recovers.

Just last week, the king thanked well-wishers for their support in a candid video shared on the royal family’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. The clip shows the monarch, 75, reading get well soon cards he received from royal admirers amid his cancer diagnosis.

The caption read, “The King has had a chance to read a wide selection of the thousands of Get Well cards and letters that have been sent to Buckingham Palace since his diagnosis.”

We’re going to miss you, Queen Camilla.
