Queen Camilla Dons Fiona Clare Coatdress With Queen Elizabeth’s Cartier Brooch for Royal Maundy Service

Queen Camilla attended the Royal Maundy Service on Thursday in Worcester, England, leading the special occasion in King Charles III’s stead. The queen consort stepped in for the British monarch, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, for the Easter tradition at Worcester Cathedral. The event comes just a few days before members of the British royal family will gather for Easter services on Sunday.

For the service, Queen Camilla wore a Fiona Clare white dress and coat. The coat featured long sleeves and a simple collar, which was adorned with the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Cartier sapphire and diamond flower brooches.

The queen consort wore a pair of knee-high suede boots by Russell & Bromley, a Lock & Co. Hatters hat, and carried the Moynat Gabrielle BB Handbag in brown lizard skin.

This isn’t the first time Queen Camilla has accessorized pieces of Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry for a special royal occasion. For this year’s New Year’s Eve service at Sandringham, the queen consort wore an aquamarine bar brooch that once belonged to the long-reigning monarch, who died in September 2022.

As for her Fiona Clare look, Queen Camilla has worn several designs by the London-based fashion brand. The queen consort has fashioned coatdresses by Fiona Clare for Thanksgiving service in 2022 and for the Commonwealth Day Service in March 2023.

Other designers the queen consort has worn before include Bruce Oldfield, a royal family favorite. The queen consort memorably wore one of Oldfield’s couture dresses for the coronation of her husband in May 2023. Much like previous royal family occasions, she wore yet another piece from Queen Elizabeth II’s jewelry collection — the same necklace the late monarch wore to her coronation in June 1953.

The Royal Maundy is an ancient ceremony, inspired by a Bible story that took place the day before Good Friday. Queen Camilla distributed Maundy Money to a selected group of attendees, thanking them for their work within the church.
