News about the royal family has been slightly, um, dramatic lately, but here’s a cute fluffy update: The Queen has been given two new corgi puppies. According to The Sun, which broke this very important news, the puppies have been bringing a lot of comfort to Her Majesty as her husband, Prince Philip, remains in hospital.

“The Queen is delighted. It’s unthinkable that the Queen wouldn’t have any corgis. It’s like the Tower of London not having any ravens. They have only been there a couple of weeks but are said to be adorable and made the castle their home. Both are said to be bringing in a lot of noise and energy into the castle while Philip is in hospital.”

The names and identities of these corgis have been shrouded in secrecy, but apparently, their arrival is a BFD because it was believed that the Queen would never have another corgi after her beloved dog Willow passed away. As royal biographer Penny Junor mused to The Sun:

“A few years ago, it was decided she would have no more. But her corgis are hugely important to her. They have over the years been closer to her than any human being. The corgis are intensely loyal and loving and they have never let her down. And of course corgis also seldom rush off to L.A. to give interviews.”

Ahem, wow, okay. And speaking of interviews in L.A., I’m going to go ahead and assume we all want to tune in to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s upcoming chat with Oprah this Sunday on CBS. Find out how to stream for free if your parents are still refusing to give you their cable log-in:
