Put paper clips to work in new ways with these hacks

If you have paper clips scattered across your home or office space, it’s time to put them to good use! Paper clips might be tiny, but they’re surprisingly mighty when it comes to completing a variety of household tasks. The humble paper clip can be used for everything from fixing broken zippers to cleaning your computer’s keyboard, and keeping your papers perfectly organized. Here are 4 paper clip hacks you need to try!

Paper Clip Hack 1: Fix a Broken Zipper

If the pull-tab has broken off of the zipper on one of your bags or pieces of clothing, a paper clip can serve as a great temporary fix. Simply hook the end of a paper clip through the zipper slider and press the paper clip ends to close. Then, pull the paper clip to open and close the zipper, just as you would have pulled the pull-tab. It’s that easy!

Paper Clip Hack 2: Make a Paper Box

Need somewhere to store small desktop items like thumbtacks, staples, and even paper clips? No need to go out and buy expensive desktop containers. Just grab a piece of paper and a handful of paper clips and start folding. First, fold the sheet of paper diagonally, then cut the excess so it forms a square when unfolded. Next, fold the paper in half along both axes, fold the corners towards the center, and crease the sides. Pop the sides up, then use paper clips to secure the corners. Fill the box with whatever you want!

Paper Clip Hack 3: Make a Cotton Swab

You can use a paper clip and a cotton ball to create a makeshift cotton swab that’s perfect for cleaning keyboards and other small surfaces! Just straighten the edge of a paper clip and add a bit of cotton to the end. Then, use your makeshift cotton swab to clean the surfaces of your choice.

Paper Clip Hack 4: Make a Binder or Book Tab

Keep your papers perfectly organized by making binder or book tabs out of paper clips! All you need to do is add a bit of washi tape to the end of a paper clip. Then, affix the paper clip to the papers you want to keep organized. Use different types of washi tape to denote different categories, or use the same roll to create a more consistent aesthetic!
