Purple's Bamboo Sheets Feel Like My Coziest T-Shirt

When you read the phrase "favorite old T-shirt," you probably associate it with a very special, floppy garment in your closet. It's loose, airy, a little worn-in, perhaps in a questionable color or with a faded logo on it. But it's made of the softest material that you've ever felt and you wouldn't get rid of it for anything.

I own a version of this shirt (a merch tee from the now-defunct Sklarbro Country podcast, since no one is asking), and I've also found this same softness, right out of the box, from Purple's bamboo sheets.

The Purple sheets are made of bamboo-derived viscose and Spandex. To get a sense of how they feel, in case you've never slept on bamboo sheets before, the fabric is very similar to jersey cotton with more of an elastic stretch. If you pull on one corner of these sheets, it'll spring back to place when you let it go. The sheets' fabric isn't thick or weighty at all, making them great for the warmer seasons, and though the material isn't infused with anything to make it "cooling," it does have a slinky, breathable feel. Quite simply, it's a hot sleeper's dream.

I've found that these bamboo-viscose sheets form-fit to my 12-inch-high mattress and securely stay on thanks to the fitted sheets' thick elastic band (why don't all sheets have this feature?!). Just keep in mind that they may be a slightly more snug fit for mattresses upwards of 18 inches high. Also, I normally kick top sheets out of bed (quite literally), but I like sleeping tucked into the Purple top sheet because, again, it's very cool and T-shirt-like.

So is there anything about the Purple sheets that I don't love? Well, if you follow the care instructions, which include machine-washing cold and tumble-drying on low heat (or line-drying in "weak sun"), you shouldn't have any problems prolonging their soft and smooth feel. Wash and dry them in warmer temperatures, though, and you might see some pilling and experience a little shrinkage after a few cycles. Also, if features like thread count matter to you, these sheets may not be your fit — the retailer's page calls thread counts "overrated." Crisp cotton percale sheets these are not, but in our opinion, there's nothing wrong with that.

Purple's bamboo sheets are available in sizes twin through California king, and they come bundled with two pillowcases (though the twin size has just one), a fitted sheet, and top sheet. This bedding set is also available in white, gray, beige ... and yes, purple, too.
