Sweetpea passed in the end of November and the post sadly reads, "Just 30 minutes away from UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital, our sweet, loving adorable and well-loved Sweet Pea passed away. We will provide more details at a later time. Please allow us some time to get over the shock and devastation and to make sure Jennifer gets home safely as she’s currently pulling herself together in a parking lot. Rest assured, her close team will be there to support her every step of the way. And we know you, our followers, will too. Once again, more details to come later. Thank you for giving us some time.RIP to our Sweet Pea, the most loved puppy in the universe."

Bosley's Place Inc. is a rescue and nursery exclusively for homeless and orphaned neonatal (0-4 weeks) puppies. Rescues that do this type of work have to deal with the heartbreaking fact that a lot of the tiny puppies in their care won't make it, no matter how hard the brave volunteers, employees and veterinarians try.

So many of these dogs would have zero chance of survival if not for rescues like Bosley's Place that take in the most vulnerable animals that need the most care.

About Sweetpea's Short But Inspirational Life

In the article above, Sweetpea's owner and the director and founder of Bosley's Place, Jennier Siegel told the outlet, "“I recall the day that she arrived very clearly. It was July 20, 2023, and I had just moved a litter of foster puppies out of my home, and I wasn’t feeling well (later that night, I tested positive for COVID).”

Sweetpea's breeder had reached out to Bosley's Place for help with the tiny pup. Sweetpea arrived at the rescue and she was 205 the size of her siblings.

The interview continues, "She stayed with me in my home, where we have our critical care puppy ICU. Once we figured out that she was littered with congenital defects, including hydrocephalus, a hole in her heart, gastrointestinal issues, and deformed kidneys,” the rescue owner explained, adding: “I knew she would stay with me permanently.”

Siegel went on to say, "Sweetpea taught me the lesson that a little 1.7lb puppy could have such an incredible impact on the lives of so many, and it sounds so cliché, but I witnessed it first hand.”

Our hearts go out to Sweetpea's owner and everyone who loved this little dog. Rest in peace, sweet girl.
