Un Pho Gettable. Hannah and her Scissors. Bark Side of the Moon. One thing Vietnamese restaurants, hair salons, and dog groomers seem to implicitly get is the importance of incorporating a solid pun into a corporate moniker. After all, when faced with the choice between two competing businesses named “Supercuts” and “Shear Lock Combs,” which one would more quickly grab your attention—and your hard-earned haircut dollar?

Of course bike shops have long been getting in on the action, too. And why wouldn't they, with so many low-hanging wordplay options to spin from "spokes," "cycle," and, well, "spin"? Now the site Atlas Obscura has cranked out the ultimate map of pun-based business in the US, and a number of these clever bike shop names have been included.

Here's what's listed on their crowd-sourced map of wordplay-based bike shops:

  • Oh, Wheelie? Denver, CO

  • King Kog Brooklyn, NY

  • Outspokin' Bicycles Columbia, SC

  • The Cycle Path Cornelius, NC

  • Planetary Cycles Houston, TX

  • Cycle Analysis Jacksonville, OR

  • Bike Pedelars Lincoln, NE

  • Free Cycles Missoula, MT

  • CyclePath San Mateo, CA

  • Bicycle Belle Somerville, MA

  • Krank It Up Tallahassee, FL

Of course, this leaves out a few more I can think of: "Grateful Tread Bikes" in Fort Collins, Colorado, "Old Spokes Home" in Burlington, Vermont, and "Mellow Velo" in Santa Fe, New Mexico, among them.

What else did they miss? Do you have a favorite in your area? Should the bike industry try two-wheeled more puns? (Sorry, I had to.)
