When Chrissy Teigen and John Legend do date night, it’s always a fashion moment, and yesterday they showed off their experimental side. Legend made a splash in tartan as they headed to Craig’s, the tony West Hollywood eatery, but his striking red and blue suiting couldn’t compete with Teigen’s fresh silhouette. She wore a white blazer layered over a cropped body suit, plus one of the trickiest items of the moment: bike shorts.

Stars like Bella Hadid and Kim Kardashian helped popularize bike shorts, but generally in a more athletic setting. It’s hard to divorce gym clothes from their SoulCycle associations, but Teigen let the elegant aspects of her outfit take center stage thanks to a waist-accentuating blazer, PVC-accented Gianvito Rossi sandals, and diamond earrings. The combination of athleisure and luxury was the perfect complement to her glamazon-next-door persona.
