STORY: A Champions League title remains elusive for Paris Saint-Germain, and fans were disappointed at their 0-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the final.
PSG's home stadium welcomed 5,000 fans on Sunday (August 23), who viewed the match on a jumbo screen. Dejected and angry at police presence, some supporters threw firecrackers and projectiles, prompting police to disperse them with tear gas.
Fans acknowledged Bayern Munich's superiority in the final, and criticised PSG's lack of efficiency.
The French champions missed their chances and then ran out of steam and ideas after the break, their former youth academy graduate Kingsley Coman, who left the club in 2014 as a free agent to join Juventus, heading the winner just before the hour.
"Once the goal was scored (by Bayern), PSG were no longer in the game," fan Thibaut Lacroix said.
The strikeforce of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe failed to deliver in the club's first Champions League final.
Dozens of police were deployed around the Parc des Princes stadium and on Champs Elysees to control crowds. Some fans burned structures on the avenue.
Outside the stadium, supporters threw bottles on the ground, and dragged metal barriers to separate them from the police.
