PSA: McDonald’s Is Bringing Back the Shamrock Shake AND a New Shamrock McFlurry

For single folks, February is a lonely time. All of the focus seems to be on celebrating love, which is nice but feels oppressive if it only reminds you of what’s missing from your life. The fact that we’re bombarded with Valentine’s Day tie-ins everywhere from Waffle House to Red Lobster is enough to make single people not want to leave the apartment until March.

Thankfully, there’s a winter(ish) food holiday that can be enjoyed by all regardless of relationship status: St. Patrick’s Day. And this year, McDonald’s is going greener and bigger than ever with a new drink that seems like a perfect way to eat (drink?) your feelings once V-Day is in the rearview mirror.

Starting February 19, McDonald’s will be re-releasing their iconic Shamrock Shake nationwide for the first time since 2017. They’re returning after a three-year absence, which is presumably tied to the famous green shake’s 50th anniversary.

That’s not it, though. McDonald’s is marking the Shamrock Shake’s golden anniversary with the addition of a new limited-edition treat: the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry. Made from vanilla soft serve blended with chunks of Oreos and that magical, mystical Shamrock flavoring, it’s probably the best thing going in terms of mint chocolate menu items at any fast food joint around.

Just like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, the Shamrock Shake and its green McFlurry cousin won’t be around forever. Still, the fact that you get a four-week head start before St. Patrick’s Day on March 17 is a good sign. I can’t imagine how this McFlurry would taste if you spiked it with some booze for your St. Patty’s bar crawl, so do that at your own risk.
