'Protect Our Winters' Calls On Biden Administration To Protect Nevada's Ruby Mountains

Professional snowboarder, business owner, and climate advocate Jeremy Jones founded POW (Protect Our Winters) back in 2007, and now, the organization has a timely message for climate-advocates and skiers alike.

Nevada’s Ruby Mountains, home to iconic lines and world-class powder skiing, are currently being threatened by oil and gas exploration. See below.

The Ruby Mountains make up a total of 450,000 acres of public land, with rich skiing opportunities, including heli skiing and iconic backcountry skiing, with lines such as the famous Terminal Cancer couloir.

Terminal Cancer was even one of Cody Townsend's lines for The Fifty Project.

Watch his descent of the iconic couloir below.

Protect Our Winters is asking the Biden Administration and Secretary Deb Haaland to prohibit oil and gas leasing in the Ruby Mountains and Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

Additionally, you can join POW in this call for action using your own voice by filling out a form for a letter supporting the The Ruby Mountains Protection Act, sent to Secretary Deb Haaland, here.

If the Ruby Mountains Protection Act becomes law, it will ensure the preservation of the mountains, safeguarding them for future generations and maintaining the environmental balance of the area.
