Raise your fists and protect your necks (if you know, you know), because we’re about to take another trip to Road House. Amazon Prime Video’s reimagining of the 1989 Patrick Swayze film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor, who will tussle in the Florida Keys. Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC middleweight fighter who is roped into protecting a local dive bar, while McGregor aces his feature-film debut as Gyllenhaal’s nemesis.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, a beefed-up Gyllenhaal revealed that McGregor accidentally "clocked me in the face" while filming. The real-life UFC fighter "was talking to me really close," Gyllenhaal said. "And he was like, 'Yeah, that left hook looks good, but then when you do it, boom!' And he hit me by mistake." Then, the Road House star accidentally "slammed his face with a car door" in return, but McGregor was reportedly not bothered. Sounds about right!

The two stars built up a friendship and trained together during filming, which you can glimpse in an Instagram video of Gyllenhaal pulling a Ferrari, while McGregor pushes from behind. "I’m always trying to find roles that allow me to stay physical," Gyllenhaal told Men's Journal. "That means caring for not only doing my research and working hard intellectually but also taking care of the physical part of acting." Plus, if you have to be shirtless for most of the film's runtime, I'm sure that definitely helps.

Road House premieres exclusively on Prime Video this Thursday, March 21. If you're looking to watch the original movie, it's available to stream on Prime Video, YouTube Premium, Hulu, and Max. The 2024 film is directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow), and features Daniela Melchior, Jessica Williams, Lukas Gage, Billy Magnussen and Post Malone. And yes—because I know you're about to ask—Posty does throw hands.
