The Pros Behind J.Lo’s Ageless Skin Share the Simple Tips That Keep Her Glowing

Everyone stop what you’re doing: A Jennifer Lopez skincare update is here, and your amplified radiance awaits. If you’ve seen photos of the Hustlers star (who just turned 50!) without makeup, then you know she’s blessed in the genetics department. But Lopez has shared tidbits of her routine in the past, and her veteran experts have now officially imparted some new wisdom that could take yours to the next level. The best part? Their tips are not as complex as you might think.

1. Be consistent with your routine.

Sure, you’ve heard this before, but now J.Lo’s dermatologist Harold Lancer, M.D. is telling you to get strict, so you have to listen. “Make sure to have a precise skincare program that you follow daily, which should include the basic products your skin needs in addition to targeted products,” he told PopSugar.

J.Lo’s aesthetician, Louise Deschamps of Lancer Dermatology Group, added that two of those important steps are exfoliating and moisturizing. “I also tell patients with dry skin to add in a lightweight hydrating oil,” she said.

In July 2018, Lopez’s makeup artist Mary Phillips told Well+Good that she swears by facial oils to achieve her signature glow. Her favorite is Själ’s Saphir Concentrate, a “liquid silk” anti-aging formula that contains lavender natural botox complex, grapeseed oil, and blue chamomile.

2. Incorporate three key ingredients.

Dr. Lancer recommended a powerful trio of ingredients that, unless your skin is sensitive, should reveal an enviable glow when used consistently and with care: vitamin C to reduce dark spots and hyperpigmentation, glycolic acid to exfoliate rough skin, and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump the skin.

Lopez has praised glycolic acid in the past, but unfortunately, wasn’t specific about a particular brand or product she uses. So far, she hasn’t leaked her vitamin C or hyaluronic acid serums either. But thankfully, there are plenty of products on the market in all price ranges that feature those key ingredients.

Plus, there are plenty of other recommendations Lopez has graced us with, including Lancer’s The Method: Cleanse and Eye Contour Lifting Cream, per Hello!. “I always, always wash my face after a workout. That helps keep my pores clean and my skin feeling healthy,” she told the outlet. “Then I’ll usually put on moisturizer and sunscreen, with maybe a little make-up if I’m going out or moisturizer and eye cream if it’s the evening.”

And what’s an effective skincare routine without a trustworthy night cream? Her makeup artist Scott Barnes told PopSugar that she swears by a pricey but effective cult favorite: La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream.

3. Understand the power of nutrition and exercise.

It’s no secret that Jennifer Lopez works hard for her toned figure, but that’s not the only reason she works out and eats well. “Having a set exercise program to follow is important, as strong blood flow leads to healthy skin,” Dr. Lancer said. “Having a meticulous nutrition program makes a significant impact on skin because what you put into your body dictates what your skin will look like from the outside.”

In June 2016, J.Lo told InStyle that she also doesn’t smoke, drink, or have caffeine in any form, which ultimately contributes to her ageless skin.
