Pros Attempt The World's "Toughest" MTB Trail

Many people who see the terrifying lines the Pros take at Red Bull Rampage might swear off the Virgin area as a riding destination.

Thankfully there are more accessible trails to ride. Watch Luis Gerstner ride King Kong in Virgin, Utah with friends.

As you can tell from the video, “more accessible” is quite relative. King Kong is still an incredibly technical trail with a lot of exposure.

There are a lot of mandatory gaps and steep chutes that riders need to nail or they will tumble down a steep hillside and face serious injury.

King Kong is so gnarly that it is not sanctioned on Trailforks. Still, dedicated riders can find it with a little googling and access it from another trail with a similar themed name.

Virgin has become a destination for people looking to get their fix of desert riding. It stays rideable most of the winter and offers an opportunity to mimic the pros at Rampage.
