The name Louis, which means "famous warrior," pays tribute to the Prince Philip's uncle and Prince Charles's mentor, the late Lord Louis Mountbatten, who was tragically murdered by the IRA in 1979. It is also one of both Prince William and Prince George's middle names, and was the name of Prince Philip's grandfather Louis of Battenburg.

But how to do pronounce the little one's moniker? Here's a hint: Louis is pronounced "Lew-ee" not "Lewis." The "s" is silent.
You can clearly hear the name pronounced correctly in this video of Will and Kate's wedding vows:
Shortly following the announcement by Kensington Palace this morning, several royal reporters in the U.K. clarified how to say Prince Louis's name, perhaps sensing confusion from American fans of the royal family.
For my American friends Louis is pronounced Lew-ee not Lewis - silent s! #royalbabyname
