This Opulent, French-Style Chateau in Kentucky Is Heading to Auction Next Month

Back in 2010, high-powered lawyer Joseph P. Thomas doled out a mere $818,000 for a sprawling hilltop property in the the northern Kentucky city of Edgewood, just 15 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

The chairman of Ulmer & Berne’s Life Sciences Group—who is touted as one of the nation’s leading advocates in class-action, multi-district, and mass-tort litigation involving drugs and medical devices—subsequently spent many millions more to custom-build a French chateau-inspired mansion, which rests on 7 acres near Summit Hills Country Club.

After first trying to sell the spread for a speck under $9 million in July 2021, the home returned to the market last summer at the exact same price, before eventually dropping to $6.9 million. Now Thomas has decided to auction off the place with no reserve in collaboration with DeCaro Auctions International.
