Prom wear giveaways set in Yuba City

Apr. 5—Community leaders are organizing two separate prom attire giveaways for area high school students in need of formal wear.

Lambert House Cafe in Yuba City will host a prom dress giveaway from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday for all area high school students. Organizer Vangie Bushnell said that clean, ready to wear prom attire, shoes and accessories will be accepted before and during the event.

In addition to selecting free prom wear, students will be able to enter into a raffle with several salons and other local vendors to get "the full prom experience," Bushnell said. Participating salons include The Parlor in Marysville, Studio 622 Salon and Spa, First Class Tanning Salon, and Simply Divine Barbering Academy in Yuba City.

"Our goal is to help young ladies in the area regardless of their financial situation," Bushnell said. "Every girl deserves to feel beautiful and confident. Our motto is that every girl deserves to unleash their inner glamor."

Prom dress donations can be delivered to Studio 622 Salon at 622 Plumas St., Lambert House Cafe at 208 Bridge St., or Sopa Thai Cuisine at 720 Plumas St. in Yuba City.

Sutter County Superintendent of Schools is also partnering with Yuba Sutter Marketplace and U.S.A. Supreme Pageant associates for their third annual Prom Wear Giveaway, allowing students to pick out donated prom attire for free. Shoes and accessories will also be available along with formal clothing, organizers said.

Yuba Sutter Marketplace will host the giveaway event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 13. Donations will be accepted through Tuesday. New or gently used prom attire can be donated at the Yuba Sutter Marketplace management office located at 1215 Colusa Ave. or at Sutter County Superintendent of Schools located at 910 Klamath Ln. in Yuba City.
