A24 has dropped the best announcement for Ari Aster fans.

Production on his latest film, Eddington, is underway and has a stunning cast behind it.

Eddington will be the fourth feature film from the director behind Hereditary, Midsommar, and Beau is Afraid, reuniting Aster with the star of Beau is Afraid, Joaquin Phoenix alongside Pedro Pascal, Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Austin Butler, Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward and Clifton Collins Jr.

Details on the film are sparse, but it's being described as a contemporary western, and with Aster in the director's chair, we can almost guarantee a twisted edge.

As well as star power in front of the camera, the behind-the-scenes team is bursting with just as much talent.

Darius Khondji - the two-time Oscar nominee behind Evita, Bardo, and Michael Haneke's Amour and David Fincher's Seven - serves as cinematographer.

Decorating the world for Khondji to shoot are Matthew Gatlin and John Snow, who make up the art department.

Gatlin's most recent credits include Killers of the Flower Moon and Jeff Nichols' upcoming The Bikeriders. Snow is known for working on Stranger Things.

Eddington's release date is currently unconfirmed, but with the immense amount of talent behind it, it will be one to watch out for as things develop.
