Call me old-fashioned, but I've always been a bar soap kind of girl. There's just something about body washes and shower gels that always felt icky to me. Maybe it's because they take up space in my shower, or maybe it's simply just because I never used one that I actually liked. But in September, a box of Iota Supervitamin Body Washes+ showed up at my front door and I decided to give them a try. And let me tell you, I haven't stopped using them since.

A little background about the brand first: Iota is more than just a body care brand, it's a body care brand that puts skin health first—and it does so by formulating its products with probiotics. The skin is the body's largest organ, and the microbiome is a supportive top layer made up of one trillion microorganisms that help keep the skin healthy and protected. Without a healthy microbiome, your skin is more susceptible to a host of conditions and concerns, such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. And so, like how probiotics can do wonders for the gut, a body cleanser with probiotics can improve skin's overall health and promote longer-lasting radiance, firmness, and hydration.

Iota currently offers three body washes suitable for all skin types with different fragrance options and benefits. The Brightening body wash has notes of mandarin rind and cedar atlas and is formulated with Vitamin C and niacinamide for boosting skin's glow and hydration. The Soothing body wash is fragrance-free and contains Omegas 3 and 6 and magnesium for softening and soothing extra dry skin. My favorite of the bunch is the Detoxifying body wash: It has a lemongrass and eucalyptus scent that is pleasantly delightful but never overpowering, and it's great for rough, irritated skin. The formula is infused with superfoods algae and goji berry, which help purify pores, as well as various multivitamins that aid with even tone, barrier repair, and collagen support. I have had keratosis pilaris my entire adulthood, and since using the cleanser, have noticed a significant improvement in the annoying bumps on my arms I've always been self-conscious about.

Beyond the microbiome benefits, the Iota body washes lather like none other. I've never experienced anything like it. Just the tiniest amount of product turns into this cloud-like foam that feels like silk against the skin. The only way I can really describe it is like luxury in a bottle.

The brand also has a Superplant Body Serum+ that works in tandem with each of the body washes. It too has prebiotics and postbiotics, as well as niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, which help brighten, provide collagen support, and lock in hydration. The formula is lightweight, soothing, fast-absorbing, and non-greasy, and leaves skin with a pretty gleam—basically, everything one wants in a nourishing body moisturizer.

Needless to say, I'm hooked on Iota's products—and dare I say it... the Supervitamin Body Washes might have turned me into a body wash girlie. I definitely didn't see that on my 2023 bingo card.
