In the early 1990s, Kelly Slater (in)famously guest starred on Baywatch.

He played Jimmy Slade, a (you guessed it) surfer, and then in real life, wound up dating the real star of the series – the buxom, slow-mo running, bikini-clad Pamela Anderson.

That’s all ancient history now. But Malia Manuel, the stylish professional free surfer from Hawaii, has picked up where Slater left off, guest starring on another classic drama series, Magnum P.I., which is apparently still on air after the original series of the 1980s.

Malia posted a clip from her guest appearance on the show, captioning:

“honored to guest star as myself on Magnum P.I… an entire 2 min scene trying to keep it together 😆 thanks to @zachknighton and the entire Magnum P.I crew 🙏🏼”

It appears, unlike Slater, she played herself on the show.

And no word on whether or not she’s going to keep the role going. But, if she were to take any advice from Slater on the matter, she might think twice about it.

“I was very reluctant to do it,” said Slater in an interview, per news.com.au.

“I really didn’t want to do it but my mum and my manager at the time really wanted me to do it. He more or less just signed me up without me approving it. I don’t know how that happens but in my life at that time, that happened.

“I was so embarrassed that I was going to have to do the show and I just really didn’t want to. I wanted to go surfing and win contests and be a professional surfer and that was it. I wasn’t trying to go be an actor. Surfing wasn’t some launch pad to acting. Surfing was my craft and that was what I was good at.

“I wish I had been a bit more mature in being able to deal with that but I didn’t have the skills at the time.”
