Pro Surfer Anthony Walsh's Social Media Accounts Hacked with (Randomly) Kelly Clarkson Weight Loss Videos

In today’s technological age, nobody is safe.

With the rise of hacking, artificial intelligence, and deepfakes, celebrities and everyday citizens are being targeted on their social media channels, doing or saying things they never did or would (even worse, seemingly appearing in salacious videos).

The latest, and utterly most random victim of such nefarious hacking, is Australian pro surfer Anthony Walsh, and some deepfake weight loss videos of singer Kelly Clarkson.

Yeah, super random.

The videos appeared on Walsh’s Facebook account with the caption:

“Kelly Clarkson is reforming the approach to weight loss with a scientifically backed natural product that helps people to part with fat within a short period of time.”

Strange.

However, the Australian Associated Press was quick to point out the videos were not real.

In a release, they wrote:

“A series of Facebook videos shared by a professional surfer appears to show American pop singer Kelly Clarkson addressing her fans about a new weight loss product.

“This is a scam. The videos of the pop star are deepfakes, likely created with artificial intelligence. The surfer, Anthony Walsh, confirmed to AAP FactCheck that his account had been hacked recently and that he did not share the post.

“One Facebook video purports to show the American Idol winner saying to the camera: ‘Ladies, honestly, I didn’t expect my weight loss to spark so many questions. My direct messages on Instagram are overflowing. Instead of replying to each one individually, I’ve decided to make a post about it.’”

However, after some digging the AAP found:

“His account, which has 26,000 followers, now appears to be managed by several users in Vietnam and Mexico according to the page’s transparency details.”

Nobody’s safe.

Anyway, here’s Walsh doing what he does best:
