Tom Wallisch Shows That Mammoth Is Still Firing In Mid-July (Watch)

Mammoth Mountain, California is still open for skiing and snowboarding thanks to a record snow year, but how much snow is actually left on the mountain?

I was in Mammoth Lakes a couple of weeks ago for three days of glorious summer skiing, and while the snow was fantastic then, it's been fairly warm over the few days.

Let's check in on the snow conditions via professional skier Tom Wallisch's most recent Instagram upload:

So... basically, the mountain still has enough snow for a full-blown Mammoth Unbound park underneath the Gondola? Yeah... that's insane!

I was fortunate enough to follow Wallisch and Jossi Wells around Mammoth as they each filmed an edit, and while you can tell that the snow has obviously been melting between the two edits, it's still looking pretty darn good for July 10th.

We checked in with Wallisch on the snow conditions. Here's what he had to say:

Tom Wallisch: "It’s still great snow and an epic park in mammoth. Unbound is still open with a legit big jump and loads of rails. Skiing as if it’s early may on any other year. The top has amazing coverage still and lots of turns left to be had. It might be hot out but the skiing at 8am is top notch!"

Mammoth is planning on staying open through the end of July, but people are asking... Will Mammoth extend into August? September? Will they make it 365 days leading right into Winter '23-'24?!

I wish I had the answers, but sadly the only thing I've heard is the publicly-stated closing date of "the end of July".

I'm keeping all of my digits crossed that Mammoth drops a bombshell announcement about extending the season here soon.

However, even if they don't extend the season, I'll never forget skiing in January and late-June during the snowiest season in Mammoth's recorded history.

Winter(Summer) '22-'23 will go down in the record books. That's a guarantee.
