Pro Skier Hands Out Cash To Local Kids

To the average skier, pros seem to operate in some fabled upper echelon—they're always shredding the best pow, the gnarliest lines or the biggest park builds.

But Alex Hackel is bringing his cohort back to Earth. In a recent upload from 1000 Skis, Hackel handed out cash to stoked skiers at Killington, Vermont, during his third Hike & Hang event.

Hackel's Hike & Hang, which went down on December 2nd, had a simple premise. Hackel camped out at Killington's park, invited a posse of local skiers, and handed out cash and swag to those "skiing well, learning new tricks, or simply having a good time." It was a far cry from the bright X Games lights or movie shoots skiers like Hackel frequently traverse.

Joining Hackel for the festivities was freeskiing community legend Tall T Dan, the founder of Arsenic, an apparel brand popular among park and street skiing fans.

With Hike & Hang, the pair engaged with and expressed love for the community that sculpted their lives and careers. Hackel's a Boston boy turned international skiing superstar. Since his days spent learning tricks at Sunday River, Maine, Hackel's become an X-Games medalist, film producer, and co-owner of the rising ski company 1000 Skis.

Hike & Hang is Hackel's commendable effort to pay it forward and, to cite 1000 Skis' slogan, "keep the culture moving."
