Priyanka Chopra Confirms She’s Going to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding
The guest list for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding is mostly a mystery — we still don’t know for sure if the Spice Girls were invited — but you can definitely count on one familiar face to be among the crowd. Priyanka Chopra, one of Markle’s longtime friends, just confirmed that she’ll be attending the royal wedding on May 19.
The Quantico star told Us Weekly that she’ll be in England to watch the couple say “I do” at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. But she hasn’t quite worked out what she’ll be wearing. (The invitation dictates a “day dress with hat” for ladies.)
“I sort of may have an idea,” Chopra said while attending Variety’s Empowered Brunch in New York City on Wednesday, April 25. “But no, I haven’t picked one out yet.”
Chopra also spoke about her friendship with the former Suits star, telling Us Weekly, “I’ve known Meghan for three years and I’m so happy the way the world has responded to her, because as long as I’ve known her … she is a relatable young woman of the world today. She’s that girl who thinks out of the box. She has always been an activist. She has always had a strong voice. She’s an ambitious girl of today. I think the world needs strong role models like Meghan. I think, I hope, Meghan will end up being one of those people.”
The interview comes just days after Time magazine released its list of 2018’s 100 Most Influential People, which of course included Markle. Chopra shared a tribute to her friend for the honor, writing, “With her, what you see is real, and what you get is a relatable young woman with her heart and mind in the right place.”
She added, “This ever-smiling, strong free spirit found her prince, fell in love, and in turn made a cynical world believe in fairy-tales again. But more than anything else, Meghan is an important influencer in a world that needs strong public figures to respect and look up to. … Meghan, standing shoulder to shoulder with Harry, will be a princess for the people.”
