At the Venice Film Festival in September, Priscilla, the upcoming biographical film directed by Sofia Coppola, received a seven-minute standing ovation.

The film's subject, Priscilla Presley, was in the audience and teared up during the thunderous applause, according to Variety.

"Sofia did an amazing job. She did her homework, we spoke a couple of times, and I really put everything out for her that I could," Priscilla said of the director at a press conference following the film's premiere, per Variety.

The upcoming movie will document Priscilla's side of her late husband's story, and will hit theaters a little over a year after Baz Luhrmann's smash hit, Elvis. That Oscar-nominated biopic debuted last fall and created a star out of Austin Butler.

If you've seen Elvis, you'll know it's a pretty glowing biopic of The King Of Rock and Roll.

Priscilla is based on Priscilla's memoir, Elvis & Me, and will follow the couple's early years.

Below, find out everything to know about Elvis's love and darling—including what she's doing now.

Priscilla Presley is 78 years old.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 24, 1945, according to Biography.com.

Priscilla met Elvis in 1959, when she was just 14 years old. He was 24. Diehard Elvis fans know that then-teenager moved to Wiesbaden, West Germany when her stepfather was stationed there in the air force, according to Insider. At the same time, Elvis was also stationed in the country for his own military duty.

Priscilla later wrote in an essay for People that her love for Elvis was initially born when she was 11 and living in Texas. Her stepfather had bought her a copy of "Blue Suede Shoes.

She met Elvis through an Air Force officer.

When Priscilla Presley née Beaulieu first arrived in Germany, she said she was "lonely and homesick."

She was quickly befriended by Currie Grant, an airman first class in the Air Force who was friends with Elvis. He asked Priscilla if she was a fan, and invited her to accompany him and his wife to Elvis' home.

After two weeks of convincing her parents, Priscilla was allowed to go over to Elvis' place outside of the military base. Elvis assumed she was a junior or senior in high school, according to People.

When she informed the "Jailhouse Rock"singer that she was only in ninth grade, he said "Why, you're just a baby."

On a later encounter, Elvis assured Priscilla he would treat her like a sister.

Elvis told Priscilla that she was his "ideal woman."

Although their relationship was described outwardly as platonic for many years, it was clear Elvis was drawn to Priscilla immediately, according to her essay in People. He'd often invite her over to his home.

He'd ask Priscilla to go to his bedroom to wait for him on nights she went to his house. She wrote that he'd join her in bed, kiss her, and, when his mood was "calm and peaceful," describe her as his ideal woman.

"He liked soft-spoken brunettes with blue eyes. He wanted to mold me to his opinions and preferences. Fidelity was very important to him, especially on the woman’s part," Priscilla wrote in People.

Priscilla also described how Elvis would pick her clothing and was highly focused on her virginity and purity as a young girl. She also said that Elvis orchestrated much of their relationship with her father.

She finished high school in Memphis.

Elvis finished his time in the military in 1960 and returned stateside, per Military.com. Priscilla was left behind in Germany. She described herself as highly distraught during this time. Although it was rumored he had begun dating Nancy Sinatra, Elvis soon sent for Priscilla to visit him in Los Angeles, according to People.

After her initial visit, Priscilla asked her parents if she could finish high school near Graceland. Eventually, Elvis enrolled Priscilla at Immaculate Conception High School in Memphis, Tennessee. She later moved into Graceland with Elvis in 1963.

"People have said, 'Oh my gosh, I can't believe your parents let you go with this stranger.' But it was a very innocent time," Priscilla told Good Morning America of her relationship with Elvis in 2007, per an Elvis fan site.

Priscilla married Elvis when she was 21 years old.

On May 1, 1967, Elvis and Priscilla got married in Las Vegas. The ceremony reportedly only lasted eight minutes, according to People. They took a month-long honeymoon in Palm Springs, California.

A year after they married, Priscilla gave birth to Lisa Marie Presley on February 1, 1968. However, Elvis also asked for a "trial separation"from his wife when she was seven months pregnant, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The crooner reportedly told Priscilla that he was "going through some things" and needed time apart. However, it doesn't seem like the pair went through with the separation.

Why did Priscilla leave Elvis?

They lasted another four years. The couple officially separated in 1972.

Throughout their five year marriage, Elvis was repeatedly unfaithful to Priscilla with multiple partners, according to People. Priscilla also had an affair in the early 1970s with her karate teacher, Mike Stone.

She told Elvis she was leaving him in 1972, and the pair finalized their divorce in August of the same year, according to People.

"He wasn't faithful, not that he had someone special, but when you're in the entertainment business there is always that and I tried to turn my back to that, but I just didn't want to share him," Priscilla told Sunday Night news.

Following their separation, Priscilla maintained that the couple remained close until his death.

Did Priscilla go to Elvis' funeral?

Yes. Priscilla was there for Elvis' funeral on August 18, 1977 at Graceland. There were about 80,000 in attendance, according to People.

"I was in shock," Priscilla said of the funeral on TODAY in 2018. "You'd see glimpses, you'd see people crying, hysterical, fainting, and that's how impactful it was and still to this day. People come around the same time and they're all there."

Who is Priscilla Presley's partner now?

Priscilla has had other romantic relationships since Elvis, but has never remarried, according to the South China Morning Post.

Priscilla filed a lawsuit against her granddaughter, Riley Keough.

Lisa Marie Presley died unexpectedly of small bowel obstruction on January 12, 2023, according to NBC News. Following her death, there was dispute over the family trust, per the New York Times.

Priscilla filed a lawsuit against eldest granddaughter, Riley Keough, to challenge her claim to the Presley estate. In Lisa Marie's will, Riley was listed as the sole trustee of the Presley Trust, according to the New York Times. However, Priscilla urged it was "not a family fight."

In May, Riley, settled in court, paying her grandmother $1 million, plus about $400,000 in legal fees and officially became the sole beneficiary of Elvis Presley's estate, per the New York Times. "Riley and I are on good terms. We were never not on good terms. That was all publicity," Priscilla told The Hollywood Reporter in August 2023.

The Daisy Jones and The Six star also claimed there were no hard feelings toward each other. "Things with Grandma will be happy. They've never not been happy," Riley said in a Vanity Fair cover story.

What is Priscilla doing now?

Now, Priscilla describes herself as a businesswoman, producer, actress, author and mother. She starred in several films and published two other books—including Elvis by the Presleys with Lisa Marie Presley—in addition to her memoir.

She currently lives in a lavish mansion in California, according to Taste of Country. Finley and Harper Lockwood, Lisa Marie's 14-year-old daughters, reportedly spend a lot of time at the grandmother's house after their mother's death, according to TMZ.

The grandmother is also an executive producer of the upcoming Priscilla, which will hit theaters on October 27, 2023.
