Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are undertaking a three-day visit to California.
Per Swedish royal family, "The trip is made at the request of the government and the purpose is to broaden and develop relations with California in innovation, green transition and emerging technologies with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI). During the visit, the Crown Princess will also inaugurate Sweden's new Consulate General in San Francisco." They will be joined by Johan Forsell, the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, for some of their engagements.
The trip kicked off yesterday, with a visit to the Marine Mammal Center and hiking the Rodeo Beach Coastal Trailhead, where the couple snapped a few photos in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. For the occasion, Princess Victoria wore a Stutterheim raincoat, and Axel Arigato sneakers—the right choices for the rainy and windy San Francisco weather.

After, the royal couple met students at The Scandinavian School and Cultural Center, and attended a reception at the Swedish congregation in San Francisco, where they met Swedes who live in the San Francisco Bay Area. "You Swedes abroad are all ambassadors for our country and you are all important pieces of the puzzle in the work to strengthen the ties between countries," the Crown Princess said in a speech.
Today, the royals will meet California Governor Gavin Newsom, visit the new Swedish Consulate General's office, and meet San Francisco Mayor London Breed. In addition, Victoria and Daniel will also learn about driverless cars and OpenAI. The Swedish couple's visit will conclude with time in Palo Alto—including a visit to Stanford University—tomorrow and Thursday.
