A goblin among queens!

On Monday, Jan. 15, Princess Poppy walked the red carpet at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards with her costars from RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15. But while her drag sisters donned some glamorous outfits for the ceremony, Poppy came in dressed as a wealthy, green goblin lady wearing jewelry and carrying a purse.

Also in attendance to represent Drag Race season 15 are crowned winner and Out100 honoree Sasha Colby alongside costars Sugar and Spice, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Irene the Alien, Robin Fierce, Luxx Noir London, Jax, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Aura Mayari, and Salina EsTitties.

In a sea of gorgeous gowns, beautiful gowns, Poppy is absolutely standing out as this fashionable goblin creature who’s decided to attend the Emmys.

As season 15 of Drag Race came to an end, Poppy revealed that she was officially retiring from drag. She made this announcement on social media, during the reunion special for season 15, and also at DragCon 2023. Poppy has mostly followed through with her retirement and rarely made any in-drag appearances during the past year.

With that in mind, it’s pretty surprising, hilarious, and sickening that Poppy crawled her way out of retirement to attend the Emmy Awards and show people a sillier and more fantastical side of drag. Representation matters, and goblins are absolutely feeling seen tonight!

After winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Competition Program for four consecutive years, Drag Race lost in that category in 2022. Alas, Mama Ru’s series is expected to snatch that trophy once again tonight. And if Drag Race wins, this will be its fifth-ever Emmy in the category.

Thank you Poppy for this very unserious — and instantly iconic — look that will surely go down in Emmys red carpet herstory.

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 16 airs every Friday on MTV.
