Princess Kate Steps Out in London in a White Tweed Blazer and Breezy Maxi Skirt

Catherine, Princess of Wales, looked every bit a modern-day princess when she stepped out in London for a day of fun engagements.
The royal attended the reopening of the National Portrait Gallery in London today, following a three-year refurbishment program. The gallery is one of her longest-running projects. She became its royal patron a year into becoming a member of the royal family.
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the princess partnered with the gallery on a photo project to capture how British people from all backgrounds and lifestyles were coping with the effects of the virus. The results were published in a book, Hold Still: A Portrait of Our Nation in 2020.
Kate, who studied art history at the University of St. Andrews, has been known to appreciate and dabble in art herself, as she’s taken many candid, professional photos of royal family members over the years—in particular, her kids.
For the visit today, Kate wore a lovely all-white summer look composed of a short tweed blazer—with black stitching, embellished black buttons, and a thin built-in belt—and a breezy white pleated maxi skirt. She wrapped up the elegant ensemble with black suede slingback pumps, a black quilted leather clutch, various silver rings, and diamond-and-pearl drop earrings.
Princess Kate was greeted at the opening by artist Tracey Emin, who was commissioned to create a work of art representing “every woman, through time” for the gallery’s new doors.
While there, Kate was taken to the gallery’s learning center and heard about a new initiative that will encourage young kids and local families to immerse themselves in creative learning and exploration. She also got to see the current exhibitions.
Kate’s own 40th birthday portraits, taken by fashion photographer Paolo Roversi, will be part of the gallery’s permanent collection.
