How Princess Eugenie’s Wedding Is Taking Cues From Harry and Meghan’s

There are already many similarities between Princess Eugenie’s upcoming nuptials and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s.

While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s May 19 wedding is now just a fond memory, there’s another royal wedding on the horizon: Princess Eugenie’s.

On October 12, Princess Eugenie will marry her longtime boyfriend Jack Brooksbank. In the months leading up to the wedding, Buckingham Palace has released some details about her big day—and there are already some striking similarities between her upcoming nuptials and her cousin’s.

First, the location: Eugenie, like Harry, eschewed a London wedding for a smaller, more intimate (by royal standards) English countryside affair. She will marry, just as her cousin did, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.

She’s also making sure that the public has a chance to be part of her big day. “1,200 members of the public will be able to view the arrival of the congregation and members of the royal family, listen to a live broadcast of the marriage service, and watch the start of the procession as the couple departs at the end of the wedding ceremony,” the palace announced in a statement. This is akin to Harry and Markle’s decision to invite 2,640 inside the castle gates.

After the ceremony is over, Eugenie and her new husband will take a carriage ride through the streets of Windsor—a procession that, back in May, captured the hearts of people everywhere. (However, Eugenie’s ride will be much shorter than her cousin’s.)

Anyone who watched Harry and Markle’s wedding, or Prince William and Kate Middleton’s, knows that there’s one thing royals do remarkably well: pomp and circumstance. And with their last wedding such a smashing success, why change the formula?
