Princess Eugenie’s Wedding Reception Dress Was a Showstopper
Princess Eugenie’s gorgeous Peter Pilotto wedding dress may have been the talk of the town on Friday, but she really turned up the glamour with her second gown, which she wore to her evening reception at the Royal Lodge, her dad Prince Andrew’s official residence, on Friday night.
As seen in a portrait released by the royal family on Saturday, October 13, the glowing 28-year-old bride wowed in a flowy blush creation from none other than Zac Posen. Made of silk and featuring the designer’s signature draping, the floor-length gown was a total showstopper with its long sleeves, cinched-in waist, and built-in cape.
Revealing the inspiration behind the design, the palace said in a press release that “Mr. Posen was inspired by the beauty of Windsor and the surrounding countryside. The choice of color reflects the blush of an English rose.” More specifically, the White Rose of York, which was “subtlety embroidered on both the shoulder and back, which hold together the cape.” The silk for the gown came from Biddle Sawyer Silk.
“It was an incredible honor to create this dress for Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie on her wedding day,” Posen said in his own official statement. “Her grace, elegance, and strength perfectly embody everything I could hope for in a woman wearing our design.”
To complete her nighttime look, Princess Eugenie wore diamond and emerald drop earrings (a wedding gift from her husband, Jack Brooksbank!) and a hair pin belonging to Her Majesty The Queen, who has also worn it as a brooch, the palace confirmed.
