While the wellbeing of the royal family has always been a matter of interest, the subject has been at the center of the royal world in recent weeks as rumors and conspiracy theories about Kate Middleton's health have swirled in the wake of her January abdominal surgery and King Charles stepping back from many of his official duties as he undergoes cancer treatment. Though speculation about Kate's condition has continued, this week Princess Eugenie did offer a brief health update on her uncle, the king, while speaking to the press at an event for the charity, Elephant Family.

"He's doing well," the princess said. Eugenie added that Charles would also, "be very proud today because the Elephant Family is very close to his heart, too." The charity, which works for an Asian elephant conservation, was founded by Queen Camilla's late brother, Mark Shand.

Since Charles was diagnosed in February with an undisclosed form of cancer, the Palace has released some photos and videos of the monarch reading get well cards, attending church at Sandringham, and meeting with the Prime Minister, but have not directly commented on his health or given updates on his treatment.

Though the royal family have traditionally been choosy about what medical information they share with the public, their recent decisions have come under scrutiny as online interest has reached a fever pitch. Some have suggested that the limited disclosures about Charles's and Kate's health have only fed the public speculation—a situation that has only been further exacerbated in recent weeks by a series of scandals including a photo that Kensington Palace released for UK Mother's Day being recalled by photo agencies due to photoshopping, and an inquiry which was opened earlier this week into hospital staff who reportedly attempted to access Kate's medical records without authorization.
