Like many other Instagram users, Princess Eugenie ended 2018 by looking back at her favorite moments of the year. The 28-year-old-one of the few royals with a personal Instagram account that’s visible to the public-shared some highlights on her story before the year was over. The first image, which happened to take place on New Year’s Day in 2018, was from the day her now-husband, Jack Brooksbank, proposed.

“As 2018 draws to a close I wanted to share some of my favorite moments,” the princess captioned a scenic sunset photo. “1st January 2018 - Jack asked me to marry him.” This marks one of the few photos-if not the only photo-from the couple's private proposal.

Brooksbank got down on one knee during a trip to Nicaragua last year. "We had a beautiful volcano, [the] sun was setting, birds were flying," he told BBC in an interview last January after he and Eugenie announced their engagement.

"The lake was so beautiful," Eugenie said. "The light was just a special light that I've never seen. I actually said, 'This is an incredible moment,' and then he popped the question." The princess added that the proposal was a "complete surprise" and she was "over the moon, crying."

Funnily enough, Brooksbank didn't have a ring when he popped the question. He found one at a jeweler prior to the trip, but he wanted his future wife to "sign off" on the design, he told BBC. When the couple returned, they worked together on the ring of diamonds that surrounded the pink sapphire in the center.

Jack and Eugenie officially became husband and wife on October 12, with a gorgeous royal wedding at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. The bride's cousin, Prince Harry, previously married Meghan Markle there in May.
