Princess Eugenie’s Evening Reception Gown Was Inspired by the Windsor Countryside
Following a magical (and windy) day of fanfare at Windsor Castle, bride-of-the-moment Princess Eugenie attended her evening reception at the Royal Lodge at Windsor Castle wearing a luxurious, silk custom gown by American designer Zac Posen.
The place revealed the couple’s private evening reception party looks on Saturday, providing detailed insight about Eugenie’s dazzling second choice: a blush, silk, long-sleeve gown by Posen.
Brooksbank opted for a tailored black tuxedo that was perfectly appropriate for the swanky, close friends and family-only occasion.
The image was taken by Alex Bramall, who was tapped as the official royal portrait photographer at the nuptials as well. Bramall is one of Eugenie’s favorite photographers after having worked together on a magazine shoot.

The gown itself, Posen said, was a reflection of Windsor and the charm of the English countryside. The New York-based designer, best known for appearances on Project Runway and more, said he wanted the design of the gown to be inspired by the White Rose of York, and even included an embroidery of the symbol as part of the cape detail draping Eugenie’s shoulder down.
For the ceremony, the bride chose an ivory off-the-shoulder gown by British-based design team Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos. She intentionally included a plunging back to call attention to the surgery she had at age 12.
Eugenie’s “Something Old” and “Something Borrowed” overlapped for this event after her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, loaned her a hair slide that clipped the bride’s silky, recently-dyed tresses. The piece once belonged to Queen Adelaide after it was commissioned in 1830.
Royal brides traditionally have slipped into a second outfit for their evening receptions following a packed day of greeting guests and ceremonial festivities. Meghan Markle swapped into a sleeveless Stella McCartney piece for her evening reception with Prince Harry in May, while Kate Middleton chose a second Alexander McQueen piece for her 2011 wedding.
