See Princess Eugenie’s Engagement Photos With Fiancé Jack Brooksbank

The year 2018 will see not one, but two British royal weddings—Princess Eugenie is engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank.

“The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr. Jack Brooksbank,” Buckingham Palace announced. “Her Royal Highness and Mr. Brooksbank became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month.”

The cousin of Prince Harry and Prince William has been dating Brooksbank, the former manager of London hotspot Mahiki, for several years. They met while skiing at Verbier, in Switzerland.

The wedding, says Buckingham Palace, will take place in the fall at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle—the same place as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Unlike Harry and Meghan’s ceremony, however, it’s unlikely that Eugenie’s wedding will be televised—the princess isn’t a full-time working royal and has a job in the art world.

Eugenie’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, tweeted a personal note along with the news: “I always say that the river flows well to it’s [sic] destiny because of the guidance of a solid rock.”

Shortly after the announcement, two official portraits were released of the couple, taken in Buckingham Palace’s Picture Gallery. Eugenie wore a floral print Erdem dress and Brooksbank donned a black suit with a patterned red tie. The first picture showed them standing side by side, but the second was more candid, with the two embracing and looking into each other’s eyes. The public also got a glimpse at Eugenie’s ring—a padparadscha sapphire, encrusted in diamonds. The peachy-pink stone, traditionally from Sri Lanka, is considered quite rare.
