From Town & Country

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in May of 2018 was a ratings windfall. Almost 30 million Americans watched the marriage ceremony on broadcast television alone, and in the U.K., nearly 18 million people watched them say "I do."

But until recently, it was unclear whether those of us in the States would be able to watch Princess Eugenie walk down the aisle live. As Harper's Bazaar reports, today, TLC will exclusively broadcast the royal wedding ceremony live in the US.

According to the publication, "[TLC's] broadcast, called Royal Wedding Live: Princess Eugenie, will begin at 4:25 a.m. EST on Friday, October 12, and the cable network will air an encore of the broadcast starting at 7:25 a.m. ET."

The wedding will air on the west coast on a tape delay, and the entire program will also be available to stream online via the TLC Go app.

The Telegraph's website will also offer live streaming services on Friday morning, as will the Duke of York's Facebook and Twitter feeds as well as the Royal Family's YouTube account.

Earlier this week, it was announced that ITV will air the ceremony in the UK. That news came after speculation that the BBC refused to air the Queen's granddaughter's nuptials.

An anonymous source had told the Mail on Sunday that the BBC "turned [Eugenie's wedding] down because they don’t think enough people will tune in and that there isn’t enough support for the Yorks."

The alleged source continued, "The feeling at the Palace is that the BBC has dropped the ball. At the end of the day this is going to be a huge Royal Wedding, with all the senior members of the Royal Family in attendance. But nobody wants to take the risk and spend the money it would cost to put it on air."

A spokesperson has since commented to Cosmopolitan UK, "There will be news coverage of the wedding across our services," but it's still unclear if that means they will be airing a full broadcast of the ceremony.

In the June 28, 2018 episode of "On Heir," a podcast focused on royals news, co-host and royal correspondent Omid Scobie suggested that Princess Eugenie's wedding would likely be televised.

"Looking back at some of the smaller royal weddings, they don't normally get televised; however, there is a lot of interest in Eugenie's wedding. I think the fact that we had billions of people watching Harry and Meghan's wedding this time around showed just how much interested there will be," he said.

"And the fact that every member of the royal family will be there in October [makes] this one of the most anticipated events on the social calendar later this year. There will be lots of interest. No doubt, every major network has requested some sort of access."

We're so glad he turned out to be correct.
